Maui’s parks and programs allow kids and families to get outdoors, be active and have fun while improving the environment, economy and our health. The grant will support the West Maui Greenway project, a proposed 25-mile, multi-use trail that uses and transforms the abandoned cane haul road along the West Maui Mountains. The greenway will serve as a safe, family-friendly place for residents and visitors to enjoy the outdoors away from the heavy traffic on Honoapiilani Highway. This community resource will connect residents and visitors of all ages with nature to protect the planet for future generations.
You can learn more about the greenway project at our first annual kick-off event, Love the West Maui Greenway Day, taking place on April 22, 2017 from 9am-4:30pm.
